Hi:

My wifes '01 ML430 no longer flashes 3 times after locking the car with the Remote Key. All 4 doors & the rear hatch all lock, but there is no longer a 3 flash confirmation from the lights.

Is there something I can do myself to "Reset" the car computer and get this working again without having to take it to the dealer ?

There is a problem there and perhaps the alarm is not arming. Best go to a dealer and have it diagnosed with the Star system and find out what the problem actually is.
Also be sure your hood and sunroof are completely closed along with all the doors and the rear hatch.

most likely its the module inside the car. get ready to spend about $200.

actually i just found out that campaign number 2001020001 replaced this for free, so im going to the dealer to raise hell!

When this happened to our '01 ML430, they determined the trip computer was at fault. I had it replaced under warranty, and it hasn't ever happened again. I think there are alarm system sensors in the trip computer assembly, and my SA said the unit was not serviceable, so they replaced it. I have no idea what it would have cost out of warranty, though.
