Is it hard to Mount a Avic D3?
looking to replace my MCS with pioneer Avic D3
I read numerous material on Wiring a Avic D3. Bypass, grounding, Bluetooth, Ipod video, need VW harness and all.
Can anyone tell me how hard is it to physically mount the D3 in the MCS opening? I have search and read some comment about the Avic D3 is way smaller than the MCS.
Do I need an antenna adaptor? any other plastic mounting kits?
Thanks

I have the D3 now.. Just did all the wiring to a Metra harness. Im just waiting to get some mounting hardware and maybe a installation kit. However the D3 comes with no mounting hardware at all. Also the trim plate that comes in the box doesnt even cover the D3, the opening is too big. I guess I really need to make some bracket and new trim plates. Why did Pioneer cheap out on cages and mounts on a $1000 unit?

so I installed the D3 over the weekend. all prewire with the metra harness with wolfgang's page pinout. Everything works. Even did the Bypass from the info on avic411.com. I can change route and watch DVD anytime.
However I'm not liking my self made bracket. and the trim panel is a bit ugly. I need to get the optional installation kit to do the mounting again.
If you have rear video monitors you really need this unit.
