hmmmn... seems its not a chip but a resister put in place to fool the airflow meter that the engine is cold.

Nevermind, theres always a catch when they are vitually giving something away.

Gonna have another surf for aftermarket performance kits for the ML. There doesnt seem to be much out there though. Unless you want to send the beast to Brabus and have pockets the size of my ex wife.

after i'm 'done' modding my 203, i will have speed innovation tune my ECU on ML... i personally think ECU tuning gives most gains per $...

Have you tried the exhaust? I had a look at mine yesterday, the cats have started to smell a bit at kickdown so was thinking about removing them, I noticed the Lambda sensor is just after the manifold so am guessing that there is a cat built into the manifold???
What sort of mods have you done or are planning? just looking for a little insight as there really doesnt seem to be much information for performance tuning Mercedes in the uk.

I wanted to mod my ML55 and got a quote for,...Kleemann chip and pulleys along with a carlsson exhaust and kleemann headers, @$7,500 for a 35 to 45hp gain....unfortunately for us W163 owners there is not a whole lot of choices for performance mods.

there aren't much performance mods for w163.
i'll consider doing flowmaster exhaust (other member already done it)...
and then do ECU tuning will be the end of performance mods...
after that, hopefully a BBK and power folding mirrors and call it a day...
