Is there a way to get the roof to close manually? I took it to the mechanic and he made it worse, now it is lopsided. It has been raining constantly and I am tired of getting wet. I need some help in repairing the roof as I believe it to be off track.

This is the reason that the ML's with this roof sell for far less than the ones with the std roof, and, its why used dealers will not usually buy one with the Skyview at dealer auctions. Those that have not broken will break, not a mtter of if but when. Repairs are quite expensive and they do not eliminate failure. My suggestion is to find someone who can get it closed then disable it or sell the vehicle if you can.

I had to get the lifters replace on my sunroof too (on my ML320) but it was not expensive... One side broke, replace both of course. My tech did it in less than 20 minutes. He didn't have to take apart the whole sunroof though.
Also, I recommend checking the sliders with the sunroof open to make sure it's free of any debris. This can sometimes prevent the roof from closing properly and can lead to water leaking in.

1999 ML 430 with skyview roof
Ummmmmm...good luck!
Marina, mine did break about two months ago..actually the dealer said it "jammed."
I knew about the problems with the skyview roof when I bought it last December after doing some extensive reasearch and subsequently purchased an extended warranty. When it broke, err jammed, which I knew it would, they(warranty) paid $5,700 and I paid $900 in deductible and ancilliary costs.
Now for the record, I would get a convertible truck if I could so yes it was that important to me. Don't seal it up if you can get someone to do the reapir at cost for you or try to claim it on your insurance. Didn't it get caught in your garage door or on a tree?![Wink](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
