What MB is lacking....
Read this article that was written by Booz Allen Hamilton business consultants. I think that this sums up what Mercedes is missing:

Notice how the article makes reference to Lexus, not Mercedes Benz. Coincidence? I think not!

Bang on....
Having been a purchaser of various 'premium brand' new cars for over 15 years I can truthfully say it's the after sales service which counts.
That is how the manufacturer takes care of you should you have any issues with your purchase.
Sadly from my experience I would rank MB alongside, if not worse than, mass market companies such as Ford / GM etc in terms of customer care.
Lexus on the other hand have been the model of perfection in all ways to date and I doubt I'll be getting to know my SA on first name terms like I did with the MB.
In my mind at least Lexus has surpassed MB in many if not all critical areas.
