B service for ML320

B service for ML320
in my 98 ML FSS comes up with about 1400 miles. I called the dealer, they suggest B service. The thing costs $350. I checked in the manual and all B service is rotate tires and check a bunch of things and top off the liquids. I don't really think they do anything major in B service. Do they?
I want to try to do this myself. Is it hard? Is there any books on doing this yourself?

2001 C240/2000 ML320
The main thing they do is change the oil, the rest is PM stuff, top off fluids, measure brake pad thickness & rotors. If you are still under any type of warranty, you may need to prove that you maintained it, otherwise I would change the oil and drive it.
