ML320 sudden stop

ML320 sudden stop
On 9/5/2007, I tried to change the freeways from I-110N to I5N. My ML320 made a low noise and stop.
I turned the key several times. However, most lights were blinking and nothing happened.
Luckily, I could move to the open spot that was provided for the disabled vehicle like mine.
After 10 minutes have passed, I turned the key again.
Although I see "Check Engine" sign, I could go to the destination and come back.
Did anyone have this type of experience? Can anyone pin-point the problem?
After I read your stories, my problem may be due to CPS (Crank Position Sensor) or MAF(Mass Airflow Filter). But where is CPS? Anyone knows?
