Brakes
I have a 02 ML500 and it seems like I go through brake pads and rotors like crazy. They always seem to have an obnoxious squealing noise even a short time after re-doing the brakes. Anyone know what causes this? I heard that it was just something that the ML's do. Also, Is there a way to reduce or get rid of this problem?

use the OEM brakes and have the dealer do them. I put over 80k on the car since new, and only used generic brakes twice. Only the non OEM brake combos squeeled. It always was ok when I had the OEM brakes and installed by the dealer, only when they were down to the last 2k miles or so did those begin to make noise.

Agreed. USE OEM brakes but anyone can put them on for you. I usually go to a local shop. Brake labor is cheaper as well as parts.

i'm running stoptech drilled/slotted rotors and axxis deluxe plus pads all around.... works pretty darn good!

Jealous of the Stoptechs. Did you install or did a shop do it? Was it just a simple replace or are there special MB tools needed to retrofit the brakes.

had a local shop do the install...
not sure on special tools since i didn't look closely during the install...
