I did it for the improved handling and looks. I've owned a series of lowered German cars prior to buying my ML and they served me well. However, lately my lifestyle called for a luxurious daily driver with lots of cargo room and sharp looks. My cars didn't have room to carry all my sports equipment easily so it was either an SUV or a mini-van. Obviously I didn't want to go the mini-van route.

Incidentally, I also own a customized 4x4 Toyota 4Runner with a suspension lift, 33" off-road dedicated tires and a snorkel intake. I use that for my off-road excursions and driving through waist deep rivers. So I didn't really need my ML for ground clearance, it's a city/highway vehicle only.

Cheers

Very nice! You must know your 911s since you've picked the '86 as your preferred model year.

FYI to anyone not familiar with the older 911 models, 1986 was the first year that the 911 came with the stout G-50 transmission and a newly styled dashboard which was basically used until the end of the air-cooled line in 1998. For the classic 911 fan, the 1986-1989 911 is the best mix of reliability, tuneability, driveability and affordability.
