Service reminder cannot be reset

Service reminder cannot be reset
Can anyone help? My dealer cannot reset the service reminder on my 2001 ML 320. They say that there is some sorta communication problem between their computer and the computer on the ML. Any suggestions?

you dont need the sds to reset the indicator on the 163. Get in, shut the door, turn key to position 2, press the reset button twice (should bring up your maintenance screen, hold down the reset button, turn key to off position and remove the key, then wait about a second, then put the key back in and turn to position 2 (hold the reset button the enitre time your doing this) continue to hold the reset button until the service intercal resets (about 10 seconds or so).

Thanks SLR199! I finally was able to reset my service reminder. I've read tons of posts in the past on how to reset it, but I haven't been successful until today. Trust me I've tried ALOT, my service reminder was on -39700. I just wanted mention something for anyone that hasn't been able to reset their service reminder. After you get in the car, close the door, and turn the key to the second position, it is very important to double press then hold the reset button BEFORE the service reminder "beep" comes up. All this time I wasn't starting the process soon enough. Yeah I may be the only bonehead here that can't follow instructions, but hopefully this will help someone that might not have figured it out yet.
