Window Assembly

Does anyone have a diagram of the front window assembly? If not, can someone please explain how the window/track assembly connects to the window motor/gear? I'm not exactly sure what happened, but when it "froze" down here in Houston, the window locked up and got disconnected from the motor. I have the door apart right now, and I can't figure out how the two connect. Thanks guys.

It's the relationship between these two parts that broke. From what I can tell they are welded (or glued) together, but on my car they have become undone. They now move independent of eachother. Any pointers on how to join them together again? If it comes down to it, I am gonna have to slap a bunch of JB Weld on it because its impossible to fit a drill or welder in there.

FYI for anyone that wants to know: As I expected, the JB Weld did not hold. I had to drill into the door (from the inside) and through the two pieces of the window assembly. Once I drilled a big enough hole, I connected the two pieces with a screw. It's ghetto but it beats the hell out of ripping the whole assembly out and welding it up. Thanks for the diagram MJ50!

Here are the pics.

1) Drill large hole into the door's sheet metal to access the gear and window arm
2) Drill a 1/8" hole into the window arm through the existing hole in the gear
3) Connect the gear and window arm together with a screw with a relatively flat head to avoid clearance problems
*I believe this whole problem started because the three factory spot welds failed (pointed out in the second picture)

Looks like we got this problem as well. Has anyone fixed it besides utsmostdumbest, in any other way? It just seems like the fix is not very reliable. Or did someone replace it?

If utsmostdumbest is around, how did your fix go?

Mine works fine. It maintains the exact same range of motion. The screw just holds the pieces in fixed position. In my opinion the factory shouldve used screwed or rivets in the first place, but they went with three spot welds instead. It's not that hard to do, but if you do not feel comfortable ripping off ur door panel, peeling off the moisture sheild, and drilling into the door, I wouldn't do it. Although I imagine the price difference between this way and taking it somewhere professionally would be huge. Good luck.
