Put back trim piece under driver-side headlight ML320

Everybody,
Please help... I had to replace the headlight bulb on the driver's side of my 2001 ML320. I pulled out the trim piece below the headlight and now I have a small plastic bracket like piece from the extreme right hand side that attaches to the metal body and the trim piece that I don't know how to put back. Can any body please provide some guidance on how this is done. If needed I can put up JPG images of what I am talking about. Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide.
Doc.

Man I replaced my headlamps from the back of the light cluster while it was still bolted in. The passenger side was tricky but the driver's side was downright near impossible - still got it done though. Skin on your hands is overrated anyway.

Okay, so I have the same problem. The little plastic thingy fell on the floor while removing the trim piece below the headlight. Can anyone help? What I am trying to do is remove the headlight lens (shield) so that I can clean it and remove the foggy look from aging. Any help would be appreciated.
