NAVI Issue.
hey all,
in my 03 ML500, theres been a weird problem with the navi, the message "Error reading DVD" popped up, it popped up before, maybe twice! the dealer changed the unit, updated the firmware and DVD. but recently popped back up again!!!! (now my warranty is over!)
I tried putting a music CD in the navi/dvd slot, it reads and works! just when I put the NAVI DVD in, it doesnt work, it says error, bla bla blah.
I tried unplugging the battery, unplugged the unit, still doesnt work.
any suggestions???
thanks in advans-ced

Out Of Control!!
is the DVD scratched up? I would try using a DVD and DVD lens cleaner... and if I remember you have purchased a few benzes from that same dealership? I would see if they can goodwill it... especially since you have an established a history of problems with this

the DVD is not scratched up, the customer service laison is at MB manhattan is hard to deal with. I've been bothering my SA for a lot of stuff with the coupe, so I'm not sure if its okay to bother him again. Hes been doing a lot of favors!
MB-manhattan is my last resort. Any other suggestions that I can do?

I really would. but me and my dad, we both hate it. and its really not worth much now, so we're gonna keep it for a bit, and hes gonna get rid of it.
I took it to work today. the navi pisses me off, I cant even look at the freakin map!!!
I think I'ma unplug the battery for a day. hopefull that'll do SOMETHING!

Mine is a CD navi and I get that error message sometimes when it's really cold or hot outside, When it happens I take the CD out of the unit and let warm up or cool down and it has worked every time, Then other times in the same climate conditions it works fine, Temperamental I guess...

I have seen on the Forum before where if you go back on your DVD; e.g., updated with 2006.1 then you try using a 2005.1 DVD it won't work. Did that happen somehow when they updated? Maybe they used a newer disk than what you have when they worked on it and "updated the firmware". I'm just guessing. I have never had a problem with my NAV - maybe I shouldn't have said that!
