Question K&N Air Filter

Is there any issues using a K&N Air Filter on an ML320? Do you get an increase in horsepower? or is it just a waste of money?

Talking K&N Air Filter

Issues? It's the best filter around. Lasts a lifetime and will give you greater air flow, therefore better performace. Go for it.!

Hmmm .. that's good to hear ... I was not sure if it would affect the MAF sensor or something like that ... goes to show I don't know too much about MBs. That's why I'm asking the pros! Thanks. I'll place an order for one soon!

This is why I have been asking about an aftermarket air intake system. I have found websites that are honest with the claims and the K&N filter is good for 2 - 3 horse power in either the 320 or 430. I am not saying that the concept of a 1M mile filter isn't great and in the absence of anything better, go for it. I would just like to see something with a little more uumph. As a side, I do know that the K&N filter has no bearing on the warranty.

A million mile filter sounds good in concept , but you have to wash it carefully when it gets dirty so you don't destroy the fibers and create holes in the cotton meshwork , then the really tricky part of re-oiling it perfectly - too much oil and your MAF is toast , too little and dirt flies right in like you have no filter . Some people just buy a new one to avoid that concern but then there goes the " cost savings" . You don't feel 2-3 extra hp on a 275 hp 5000 lb vehicle. HP varies more than that depending on temperature outside any given day.
BMC and K7N filters don't do jack for 996 Twin Turbos unless you update the DME , turbos, intercoolers and exhaust with 100 cell cats , etc and I doubt they will do anything for the ML430.
