1998 ML 320 1975 450 SL
Just drove down to Longbboat Key Fla from just just outside of Boston Mass. (1500 miles) without a hint of a problem. My ML 320 turned 169,000 miles in the Peach State. Avarage fuel consumption, 22.7 MPG mainly due to 85+ mph from North Carolina on south.

Anyone in the Boston area know of a ML320 for sale? My sister wants one for the winter driving season. Miles are not a concern just as long as it is in good physical shape and mechanically sound.
Thanks Boston Mark

1998 ML 320 1975 450 SL
Just got back from Florida and my 1998 ML320 turned 172,000 miles. Loved every mile of driving it.
Here are some hints;
When your widow switch fails, take it out and spray it with WD-40. It worked for me till my replacement came in
when my fuel gauge went bad I added Lucas fuel treatment and when I fueled up with the engine running the gauge worked almost perfectly!
Well it works for me

ML320 Miles
I am currently at 274,000 miles. My MB dealer said he'd never replaced a tranny on this SUV - until mine. I replaced the 4WD box 2 years ago. Other than a "they never thought this would have to be replaced" vent (heater) motor (requiring a complete dismemberment of the dash for a $60 part), everything else has been very reliable.

Boston mark, you still looking for a 163? I've got a 99 320 with 85k miles on it... original owner. All new fluids (trans, diffs, xfer case, brake, radiator). Located in Boston area.

AT 315K miles, is this your first suspension overhaul?

suspension overhaul
Yes, its the first one I've had to do. I don't know what the median is. I can only speak from experience.
Unrelated but of some interest perhaps, I did have to replace the carrier bearing at roughly 187,000 miles.

Thanks for the reply...
He says, as long as shocks don't leak they will keep going...I am guessing, I may hit the 200K mile mark, before any suspension work comes due...

Just passed the 240K mark on my 99 ML320
This car won't die; the body and interior are incredibly durable, too. Scheduled service at MB only for it's lifetime; most major repair was fuel pump at 75k miles when just out of warranty (dealer still picked up the cost!), motor mounts at 190K.
We have 3 ML's -- now a new 2010 ML350, a 2005 ML350, and the '99. The 99 is our first-born's high school runner. He moaned that his more spoiled classmates got new Mustangs, Challengers, and even Corvettes, but we tell him to reply "none of them have a Mercedes"

wow all of your ML last pretty long, my 99 430 with 98k mile feels like its about to die... Transmission died once, and now it stall a lot when driving local. Is it normal for a ML to have a stiff ride? My friend has a Lexus RX330 and it feels smooth compare to my ML...I always thought the ML should have a smoother ride =/
