does any have this problem.
When your drive and listening to you radio/cd. All of a sudden the volume gets lower. No one touched the volume knobs or anything...
I know some car stero deck has ASL (auto-senitive leveling). In which when the car's engine gets louder, the volume in turn goes up. Does the ML have this function or do i need to visit MB's service?

Audio Pilot
is what it's called
There are two functions that the dealer can enable or disable.
1. Speed compensation; volume goes up as speed goes up.( it's really annoying).
2. Noise compensation; automatically compensate volume depend on cabin noise level. (This is the technoloy marvel from Bose, it's suppose to be so good that the listener should not be able to tell when it's adjusting the volume). it share the same noise sensor on the overhead as the alarm system.
Hope this help

Awaiting a new arrival...
I am having this same problem in my ML. We had the MCS unit replaced under warranty, but the problem persists. Essentially, while holding a constant speed, the volume on ours has increased as much as 10db and then goes back down to where it was previously. Occasionally, while holding a constant speed, it goes way soft. It is quite annoying.

I'm getting something like that too, but I installed an aftermarket subwoofer, and at random times(usually when i slow down considerably), the volume will spike to pretty much double what it was before. Does the frequency of the subwoofer match some frequency the audio pilot detects to control volume. Is this solvable by turning it off, or does this sound more like a Head Unit problem. The wiring and grounding on the subwoofer is sound. I'm just glad there is a speech function so i can cut out all the bass to make it go back to normal

Volume
My volume would just go wide open for no reason and not come down unless I turn it down. I hate it when it happens. Scares the heck outta me! I'll be driving just listening at a normal volume then BAM---AAAAAHHHHH!!! Crazy!!

Same with my unit, it randomly starts increasing.
It doesn't matter whether or not I'm accelerating or decelerating. All of a sudden the volume will jump and I have to lower the volume. I just got my whole MCS/NAV system replaced under warranty, let's see what happens with this unit.

Any pics of this stealth sub box???
I have a Clarion amp under the rear seats. (second row, not third row) The amp fits perfect....but where do I put a subwoofer??
