note: mp design shift knob has different design at the bottom... instead of twist like OEM, this one just pushes straight inward... so it's not as secure cuz u can literally push the black plastic downward and it will come off...

my ML injured!
wifey went to dealer to get spare key programmed this morning...
on the way back, right side of the ML was hit by Ford E-150 van...
i haven't seen the car yet but hear the rearview mirror came loose, right side mirror completely broke, some damage to right front door and right nerf bar was bent downward...
wifey is fine since it happened at low speed...
question: can i have my body shop to get me OEM running boards instead? i'd like to also upgrade to folding mirrors if possible... only concern is that it all happened on the right side only...
any advise to those u had experience with insurance companies and body shops?
p.s. will take pics when i get home...

Darn dude, that stinks! I hope that it all works out for you and glad that the wife is OK.
The folding mirrors are nice, as I have them on my newly acquired ML. the body shop should be able to get you any OEM part. I wonder what you would need for the mirror project.

My 2000 ML320 just had a similar incident..
A chevy silvarado side swiped it on the left side.
I had OEM chrome nerf bars. MB doesn't make the same ones anymore for the W163. The insurance company settled for cash instead, and for now, I am living with a slightly bent nerf bar.

My ML suffered similar damage, only to a lesser extent..
Good luck finding that running board. I have the same OEM one...couldn't find one..MB doesn't make the same kind anymore...

update:
just drove the ML this morning to work...
1) need to turn steering wheel to the right about 35 degrees to make the car go straight
2) BAS/ESP light is on
3) rearview mirror came loose
