So, is this all in my head or does Seafoam really work? ML feels alot peppier. Feels faster off the line. Feels like it wants to keep going faster on the road. Feels alot smoother too. My question.....was all that smoke really carbon build up and other crap burning off or was it the actual Seafoam burning? Either way I feel like my truck is back to "like new" status. Did it help my engine? Is it all just placebo effect? Who knows....either way, I like it. Seafoam FTW.

Thanks again Pete. Thanks for not blowing up my ML.

well the seafoam def burned... whether or not it was carbon build up is the big giant million dollar question. I guess maybe Ill actually try removing the intake manifold on the bmw and do a before and after inspection of it...

It was the line a little down and to the right of the throttle body.

hey guys,

Just picked up a 2003 ML500 a couple of months ago and was thinking about trying this. Vehicle has about 90k on it, and although it does not have a rough idle or anything, I would like to see if I could boost the performance a little.

I did a little searching around and could not find clear cut instructions. I believe that 55fanatic posted some a while back, but the link is not working.

any help would be appreciated,

thanks,

dave

Let me see if I remember what we did at the time. We waited until the engine temp went down a little. Pulled out the vacuum line and started the ML. Poured one can of seafoam into a plastic cup and fed it into the vacuum line making sure not to stall the engine. If the engine felt like it was going to stall I gave it a little gas to keep the revs up. After the whole can of seafoam went in we shut the ML off and let it sit for some time (making sure to plug the vacuum line back in!)...not sure how long....15 minutes or less? After that we started her up and took her for a drive. White smoke should be spewing out of the exhaust. I had a nice smoke screen coming out! After that I added one full can of seafoam to a full gas tank and one full can to where you add the engine oil making sure I was going to get an oil change shortly after.
Hope this helps.
