Right Rear window power motor

I was driving today and noticed a lot of road noise in the rear, thought my door was open., then it got louder., i looked back and saw that the rear window was slowly opening itself...

i pulled over., pressed the up button., the window went down

anyway., it sounded like there were gremlins in there when the switch was pressed.,

got home opened the door panel., exposed everything., the motor moves the cables a bit here and there., but not much

cable looks like its being eated (in 1 - 2 spots)... is it possible that the cable is stuck somewhere? does the cable attach to the back of the windows arm? (not sure what else to call i)., its a simple vertical bar with the window on a greased up attachmend that slides up and down, with the help of a cable?

or is the motor going out?
