Wacky Trans Computer

Okay, so I've read up a bit on how ML's trannys have problems due to oil leaking into the trans computer, and I believe that is what happened to mine.

One weird thing is my transmission will not drop down a gear in manual shift gears 1-3, but the second I shift it into 4th or D, it starts to drop gears and slip into neutral.

If this was a trans computer problem, I would think it should affect all gears.

I've also read that this problem might come due to a trans conductor plate opening, would this only affect gears 4 through D?

I have already tried to reset the computer (gas pedal down, key from 3 to 0, gas pedal up, etc.), does not seem to do anything.

Thanks for any and all responses.

Don't you mean fluid leaking onto the plug connector on the driver side of the transmission pan? That has known to cause problems. Unplugging it and spraying it out with contactor cleaner usually does the trick.

Is there any way to show me a picture of this connector or tell me exactly where it is. also could this be the reason why the esp/bas light is on.
