ML320 ABS control unit

ML 320 Fuse Chart
Found that! The first fuse I replaced was F9, which gave me illumination when I turned the car on, then faded - good. But when I turn on the headlights, the instrument panel doesn't light up as it should. The only other instrument panel fuse I see is F13, which I replaced but still no illumination when the headlights are on. Everything else seems to work...Any ideas on where to go from here? Thank you!

ml320 abs control unit
i had the same problem, 3 lights related to abs system. first sent abs controler out for repair, no joy. second installed break light switch, no joy. last i tapped on the abs pump lightly, lights went out briefly.i then removed the abs pump and connected 12 volts to the pump and ran it on the bench for about 2 minutes, reinstalled the pump started the truck and no lights so far. thanks to all for your post on this subject!

BAS ETS ABS LIGHTS ON Replaced brushes ABS motor
I own an 01 ML430.When I purchased the ESP ABS and ETS lights were on.I took the vehicle to Mercedes for a scan to diagnose the problem.Mercedes informed me it needed an ABS unit and a ETS sensor. After reading a lot of post I found that the brushes wear out in the ABS motor.Mitchell on demand has good wiring schematics that showed the location of where you can put 12 volts for the motor to run.The motor did not start so i bumped the motor with a hammer it started and the lights went out.I removed the motor from the ABS unit and took it to several auto electric shops before I found one that was willing to rebuild the motor. The brushes have to be made they can not be bought. After reinstalling the motor all lights or off and ABS is working.I did not have to replace ETS sensor and have a new motor vs purchasing a used ABS unit that probably has worn out brushes in the motor that or going to fail at anytime.

ABS/ETS/BAS lights won't go out.
I have a 2000 ML320 and I have tried to remove the K25 relay, I have tried to replace the K25 relay with the K21 relay, I have tried to remove and replace the F27 fuse and none of these would cause the ABS/ETS/BAS lights to go out. I'm not willing to spend $1,400-$2,500 to replace the ABS control module and if I could just get the lights to go out I would be a happy camper.

You should try removing the K25 relay and use a jumper wire between the #30 #87 terminal. At that point the ABS motor should run.If it does not try lightly tapping with a small hammer. If it starts the motor needs brushes. The motor is easily removed.Only to small torx screws hold it on.Try to make sure the end cap on the motor stays in position. If it comes out with the motor you will need to remove the hex plugs on each side of the pistons to reinstall. You will need to find and auto electric shop willing to rebuild it.If motor does not run it is most likely the electrical unit located on the other end of ABS unit.It can also be removed and repaired.

I conclusively tracked down my intermittent BAS ESP/4ETS lights flashing and Brake Malfunction beep/Transmission in Limp mode issues to
F22 : 15A : Traction control/cruise control/transmission/instrument cluster
F27 : 40Amp : ABS Hydraulic Unit
F22 for sure was oxidized..and I guess, it would have built up higher resistance causing intermittent low voltage error codes on Pin 87 of the ABS relay..
Problem has completely disappeared after replacing the 2 fuses.
I would advice all on watching out for these fuses on aging MLs...they may be intact, but their resistance parameters could have changed significantly after all these years..

Abs motor repair
Please follow this instruction to repair this abs ets and bas issue. http://www.mercedesmedic.com/abspumprepair/. The replacement brushes are almost non-existent so I took an old vacuum cleaner and shaped it by manually sanding it to the old brush dimensions and soldered it together. Be sure to mark the position of the motor metal case to plastic cover guide because the motor connector reinstallAtion needs to be aligned. Works like a champ
I have an ML320 (year 2000), and the three lights ABS ETS and BAS are lit. The dealer has diagnosed it as having a bad ABS control unit and the associated relay. They gave me the part number for the control unit as:
163-545-58-32.
They also mentioned an estimate of about $1400 for the parts and labor.
I found a couple of people on ebay that can repair the unit. My questions are as follows:
1. Has anyone used any such service for rebuilding/repairing ABS control units?
2. Where can I buy second ABS control unit?
Thanks
Don
