Splash Screen On Bose????
Does anyone know what a splash screen for your Bose system do? I saw a Pic On MBNZ.org. and it was a Bose system with an Blue screen. How is this possible.
PS. I did get Navigation for my ML320. Can i still add it to my ML's Bose system without going to the dealer? How much will it cost?

Hey, thanks for brining that up!! I never knew MCS can display BOSE the whole time. Just checked out the pictures from the link, it's pretty cool. I got a BOSE in my ML, but it only shows on the screen for 2 secs when I turn the system on.

Sorry if this is a repeat post, but what is "splash screen"? I have the Bose system but I've never seen the BOSE light up on the MCS Screen. Do I need to take it back to the dealer to get it "turn on"? And is that the only indication that its on?
I know Bose makes a lot of different systems for different car makers, i.e. Audi, MB MLs, etc.. I have it in my Audi and its sound awesome lots of highs and bass, but I was surprise that in the ML is sounds weak and wasn't that great, so maybe it wasn't turned on?
Thanks for your replies!

Did you get the BOSE from factory or dealer? Yeap, I agree with ya, ML's BOSE is not the best I have heard. My 8 yr old volvo with factory Alpine sounds better than ML's BOSE.

So the logo does nothing useful - if you really want it, you can have it enabled by the dealer.
The CD-based nav system costs about 1100, and about 150 per CD (there are different CD's for each region), and the new DVD-based system costs about 1250 and about 250 for the one DVD that covers all of US and Canada. These are modules that go into the MCS unit.
That's assuming you have an '00 or newer ML - any ML with the MCS - should work with either module. 2002 or newer MLs might require dealer activation for the voice prompt to work correctly.
Hope it helps.

MCS was not available until year 2000 or newer MLs. I'm pretty sure that all MCS units need to be version coded for the NAV to "talk." It's a 15 min job, but the dealer charges at least an hour.

At least from my experience the voice doesn't need to be activated by the dealer for '00 and '01 models - that was a new requirement for '02's and newer.
In those models it's basically just plug and play, with a few connections. (plug 'n pray
)
The change from the Bose splash screen to the speaker logo was in MY 2001.
