I hate SUVs
But as they go, this one looks OK. The nose is a massive improvement over the current model.
One problem with the current ML is it looks like an obese A-Class, especially from the rear. Having written that, I note that over 500,000 have been sold, so it's been a success along with all the other horrible SUVs like Explorers, Range Rovers, Excursions, Hummers, Blazers, etc....that pollute the roads, both literally and figuratively.
If they sold it with the 270 CDI engine, it's be much better, maybe even have neutral karma
Hey, it might even work better off-road with all that low-down Diesel torque.
Now watch the sales of the just (very mildly) facelifted ML plummet as people wait for the better-looking new one...

That is a photoshopped picture off of a press photo of the current model. Don't expect the real vehicle to look anything like the picture. It could be completely off as this is simply an artist's rendering of what he thinks it may look like.

Yeah, that has to be a photoshop. It's way too similar to the current model. The new one is supposed to be unibody instead of body on frame, so it will probably be quite different. But it is definitely time for a new ML. Sales have already dropped off. I wish it had been here for this year, '03, or at least next year. Hopefully it will be an early '05 model.

Whether it is photoshopped or not, I don't care. What I do know is that they have had some horrible quality problems with the thing, and they need to correct that. I test-drove the ML and the X5, and I have to admit, the bimmer was SOO much better. And the competition in the SUV market is vicious! Look at the new Volvo, the new VW, and even that new Porsche. MB had better hit a grand slam with the next release of the ML. My hope is that they will.

Looks too much like a marketing photo, I would expect with a launch date so far in the future they would be disguising it and the only pics you would see would be with all the black cladding to disguise the shape underneath.

Ugly
I like the 2002s. This one...just ugly. Like someone said earlier, kinda looks like the GX from Lexus. If that happens, MB goes to hell.
