2000 ML320 throttle/idle trouble

I am having trouble with my ML320. When I start the car it idles fine. If I push the gas peddle in about 1 inch it accelerates smooth. If I push the peddle to the floor the car will not accelerate and will jerk like it is down shifting. Then the car will idle rough and hardley make it up to 20mph. If I turn the car off and back on it will be back to idling fine and running the same. I can never push the peddle all the way to the floor. Does anyone have any ideas of what the problem is? The check engine light is on.

Thanks

Just have the computer read out and correct the fault that shows up. Thats the ONLY way you will get it fixed

Its a 2000 Ml320 - were the plugs changed at 100K miles?

I don't know how many miles you have on it, but I would suggest changing plugs at the very least as a starting point, if you haven't done so..

It has about 100k I had the plugs changed not that long ago. If I let it warm up for about 10 min before I drive it it is a little better.

Had you replaced those too? Those could cause cylinder misfires too, but not so many...you have too many cylinders misfiring...it doesn't seem like a mechanical issue (like an isloated intake or exhaust valve etc.)..it is most likely an elctronic issue.

I would check the whole fuel injection circuit. From the MAS Air flow sensor to the oxygen sensors...something in the fuel injection circuit is not right...

Could also be the plug wires themselves or, perhaps you installed the incorrect plugs or another sensor has failed. Is the misfire code the only code you are getting??

Was something done to the car prior to the problem happening? Or problem just showed up over the course of time?
