I have a 2002 MCS on ML500. Wanted to see if it can be upgraded to DVD. They have stopped making CDs for the maps the one I had, accidently cracked. I could either buy from eBay 2004 version or upgrade to a DVD. Is it possible to upgrade easily? has anyone done it? how much does it cost? Any info would be appreciated.

Yes, you can do it. You can switch out the Nav unit only or the complete MCS radio and all. Plug & play, I have done it on my ML55's. Ebay is best bet, price range seems to be in the $300-600 range. Good luck.

FWIW, if you are going to spend $300-600 on a DVD navi...why would you go aftermarket? Just curious.

I did it on my 2002, never had a navigation unit but put the DVD version in.

From what I can tell it's also difficult to get the DVD's for this unit so be wary.
