check engine light on
I have a 2000 ML 320. The check engine light goes on and off all the time. I've tried replacing the fuel cap. That didn't help.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

How many miles are on the odometer and how long have you owned it? The only reason I asked how long you have owned it to know how much service history you may have.

Odometer reads 75,000 miles and I've owned it for 9 years.

I would first take it to some place like autozone or advance to get the code read. It might pinpoint the problem very quickly. At this milage I would lean towards a faulty MAF sensor.
