BAS ESP light ON, help
hi, have a '02 ml320 with 19K miles.
BAS ESP light came on, put the car in Park as train was crossing, and could not get the gear selector to comeout of park...had to press the manual release...
also, rear brake lights do not come on, braking is weaker/have to push in alot more, and Cruise does not disengage on braking.... probably all related to one particular issue....
HELP... before i take it to the stealer....

Most likely a bad switch or sensor, however my ML has this problem and the Mercedes dealership cannot fix the problem. I have the same problems as you, except I have uncontrollable acceleration too.

Sounds to me like the brake light switch. All functions you are complaining about run thru this switch. A simple inexpensive fix, just replace it.
