New Keys to code or not to code
I'm getting an extra key for my '98 ML320. I am now using the switchblade type.
Supposedly the parts guy from an MB dealership is giving me an upgraded one. One guy in the parts section said all i have to do is sunc the key by myself and its done.
Another guy from the same dept says i have to run the ML to the dealers for syncing with the AAM computer in the shop.
Question.
1. Do i really have to bring the ML for a computer-AAm sync or can i do it via the user provided sync instructions in the manual.
2. What's the upgraded key? Is it the same as the switchblade one but of an upgraded software or make? How does it look?

You may want to let the MB dealer to do it. They use the computer to sync it. I was in and out in 10 minutes w/o a written work order. I did try the instruction in the user manual and it did not work for me.
