2001 ML320 Rear Washer Pump
Hey guys... you've helped me out before, so now I am hoping for some more of the same.
My rear washer pump doesn't seem to be working. I replaced the pump with a new one and also replaced the fuse (it was blown) and there still doesn't seem to be any power going to the pump. I am not sure where else to look and was hoping someone else has had this problem and could help out. The front works great so it's not like there is no power going to the pumps.
Thanks for your help!

qwes,
It just maybe that the switch its self has died.Is the fuse still good? If you have to change out the switch you will need to pull the panel. The one on my 1998 ML is held in with clips and glue. You will need to gently pry it out to get to the switch.

When I press the switch for the washer fluid, the wiper still does it's thing, so I figured if the wiper is working, the switch is. One thing I didn't try, and I will tonight is hooking up the front pump wiring to the rear and see what happens. That might tell me a lot... it might tell me nothing. I did switch out the fuse. The only thing I didn't do is check to see if it was still good after re-installing it. Maybe I have a deeper problem.
On the other hand... I didn't think the plugs and wires could cause the idle symptoms I was experiencing, but after replacing them, they fixed the problem. So maybe it is the switch! Thanks for responding!

Your welcome! And if I can make a side bar suggestion, try adding ome Lucas Gas Treatment to your fuel. Not the little 1 time shots but the quart size bottle. Follow the instructions, I think it calls for 3 OZ per 10 gallons of fuel. When I got my 98 ML320 it ran a little ruff so I did the wires and plugs as well as all 6 coil packs, (I got a hell of a good deal on eBay), Then I started adding the Lucas. Not only has my engine started running so smoothly, that there are times I have to look at the tach to be sure that it is running! Not bad for a 12 year old truck with all most 180,000 miles on it. And as a bonus my fuel gage sending unit works!

I noticed today that my wiper isnt working..the water will squirt out but the wiper doesn't move. Do you think I will need a new wiper motor?? This is the first time it's done it
! Also..my check engine light keeps coming on. It will go off sometimes but then comes back on. Not really sure what the problem is. Any ideas? Thanks
