How do I remove engine cover and can I change my own spark plugs?

I have a 2001 ML430 with 83,000 miles. I want to change my own spark plugs but not sure how to remove the engine cover. Is it possible to do both of these without paying someone to do it? I am trying to save money.

Thank you,

Lance

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
Most models

you just grab it and lift off it will pop off and pops back on.
You get 16 sparl plugs bosch 7422 at any good auto supply store
A torx bit set a special 17 mm boot tool that makes it easy to pop off the metal spark plug boots a 5/8 in spark socket a few short extensions a small u joint socket adapter then follow the diy posted on www.benzworld.org in the w210 diy section same procedure for that engine which is the same M113 as your engine.
Takes a few hours for even a beginner and plugs tools and all about 120 bucks less if you have a tool box with the simple stuff already vs dealer up to $800 or more

No need

no need to use anti seize modern plugs like the bosch 7422 ngk 7090 come with special metal coating that eliminates the need. Use of anti seize can short plugs and messes up torque readings if you use a tq wrench.

Always use anti-seize. Just don't get it on the first 2~3 threads. AND DON"T GLOM THE STUFF ALL OVER

I have a fancy new set of Bosch 7422 to go into the 1999 ML430.
I pulled an old plug out and it says Bosch F8DPER. is that possibly
the original factory spark plug? It doesn't say Mercedes on the plug.

The new plugs are Bosch 7422 double platinum.
I measured the gap and the new plug is 39.
Is that what I need?

I'm changing out all the wires also.
ML430 has 100K miles.
