Speechless DVD Nav ML350
I have installed a DVD Nav on ML350 - everythings working (maps, sat icon, current locations, visual prompts, etc.) EXCEPT that I am not getting any voice prompt. When I press Navi Voice, I the audio (radio or CD - whichever is playing) gets a bit louder for a second but NO voice prompt. I installed the DVD drive harness and antenna cable to the DVD drive. Is there any special installation, or is my DVD drive bad, or my MCS? Please help. Thanks.

Believe that a dealer must reprogram the MCS computer in order to have the voice activated. This from what I understand is only necessary with the 02 and 03 models

The radio volume gets a bit louder for one second - something that you usually get when there is a radio signal interference. I knew that the volume for the Nav works independently of the rest of MCS so I tried to raise the volume several times as I approached turns, and immediately after pressing navi voice, but I still am not getting the voice prompt. I also checked if the DVD nav was muted or not.
Like what Sosh stated above, and Benza's response to my post at Benzworld, my MCS would have to be version coded by the dealer in their laptop to recognize the DVD nav. I already set an appointment and they said they are charging $56 for it (the other dealership is charging $150) - although Benza says that they are not suppose to charge anything.

can you please let me know how to make so navy will let you know where to turn and what ever else
If you're getting the 1 second high volume from the radio and you have installed the MCS yourself then you definately need to visit the dealer to have the computer re-programmed. Shouldn't take more than 30 minutes.
I went through this about a year ago.

GUYS COUPL EOF QUESTION IN REGARDS TO THE CAR SERVICE THE SHOP TELLS ME THAT I NEED TO CHANGE OIL EVERY 10 THOUSAND MILES BUT I'M GUST NOT SURE IF ITS GOOD FOR THE CAR , MAYBE IT NEED TO BE DONE MORE OFTEN LIKE 3 THOUSAND, ALSO I GUST LOOKED ON MY ML YESTERDAY ITS ALL BLACK THERE SOME SHET GOT ON IT FROM TREES HOW WOULD YOU RECOMEND TO REMOVE IT, AND THE LAST QUESTION HOW OFTEN DO YOU GUYS TAKE YOUR CAR FOR DETAILING
I had the same problem when I got my ML500. I simply hadn't turned up the volume on the voice prompt. The way I fixed it was pressing the navi voice button (think that's what it was, the one that give the last direction given) and turning up the volume at that time. There wasn't a problem other than that. Hope you tried that or you might've saved $56!
CD for California - Jorge.Fong
Jorge, I'm sorry I did not have a nav before this DVD. However, I would have to tell you to just keep your CD nav for now because there is not really much difference in the DVD version, except that you have a natiowide map. But if you don't travel across several states very often, the CD works as great. I will not get a new DVD maps unless they put in more detailed maps of minor roads and new subdivisions. In many cases, the places I go to are not on the DVD map - just an icon moving on a blank emply space moving on to nowhere with streaks of interstates sometimes.
If you are really lost, the nav maps we have right now cannot save you. Lets hope they make the maps better.
