I myself couldn't get my PIAA extreme 540 and my LCDs to install on my car due to all the shops told me that on the 2003 ML it ran fiber optic line and there is no place for them to tab-in or install a relay for power source and everythings need to go thru ML's computer module which need to be enable or configure by MB dealers.

What the hell is going on

Well the fiber optics only have to do with the sound system and have been there since 2000 model year IIRC. Many people have installed entertainment systems and much much more - you can use either the wiring that internally leads to the 12V power ports or the power that goes to the center overhead console IIRC as well, etc.

Shouldn't be much of a problem.
