MCS Screen Message - No Data
I just bought the wife a 2003 ML350 and in the process of reviewing settings, I get this error message on the MCS display whenever I push the "SVC" or service button. I also hit the "update" button but it fails to connect.
Has anyone got an idea what i must do to correct this? Thanks!

I also just bought a 2003 ML350.
I did a search for SVC and am more confused now then before.
The datacard on Startek EPC indicates these three items that may be relevant to my questions:
522 radio ICU "Alipine" USA
810 Sound System
819 CD Changer
If I go into the parts explosions, The 333 subsection CNS is all greyed out, so that was not standard
If I go to section 315 radio, part 7 shows CDC and mentions a red highlited note that says "for command" and a bunch of other stuff. part 6 is a smaler radio, but that part is greyed out.
What do I have - MCS or Command? Maybe installed later - if so, how can I determine what it is? The screen says MCS, but post repliers say MCS did not come out until later models. How do I know if I have MCS or COMMAND? Are they the same thing?
The SVC function does not work. How do I enable it? What does it do?
Also, the 1 dvd that came with it is scratched beyond being readable.
I did some searched and now the DVDs are in regions. But maybe I need CDs?
Will the newer ones work in a 2003 Nav system?
What version should I buy? I need to cover all of Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and on down to West Palm Beach.
Thanks!

Press the OPEN button at the upper right corner and the screen will flip down. If there is no place to insert a CD, you do not have NAV. Press OPEN again to close the screen.

The dvd is really scratched up.
If I insert it and turn on Nav, it indicates it has nav but has an error reading the dvd.
Somebody suggested sending the DVD to a refurbisher, so I am going to give it a try. Its only 5 bucks.

But SVC still comes up not available.
What is the SVC for, and how do I get enabled?
