Question ML320 - grinding noise

I hear a screeching noise when I hit 40km/hr but then it decreases as my speed increases, but then pops up again. It's getting louder and louder.
We thought it was the differential fluids, but not.
Anybody got any ideas?

Thank you.
Two mechanics could not figure it out.
So, I'm off to a third with some direction.

if they couldn't figure that one out you're going to the wrong mechanics.
it's a common ML trait. i have it done 3 times.

Change the fluid in your transfer case! It takes about 1.8 quarts and is very simple then go from there...

No, neither mechanic could figure it out, and both wanted to send me to transmission places. I was afraid to do that because I could just picture being told that I would have to take it all apart and cost a fortune ! Luckily, it was the rear driveshaft hanger bearing. Thanks for all your help everyone ! You saved me a lot of time, money and frustration !

I wonder if this is the issue I'm having also.
It only screeches when you accelerate right?
