Pressure in cold coolant tank? Head Gasket?

Pressure in cold coolant tank? Head Gasket?
I'm trying to help my dad out with his 1998 ML320, but I don't know what is normal for this vehicle. A couple of things concern me:
1. Even after the car hasn't been started in several days there is pressure in the coolant tank.
2. There seems to be some burping of coolant at the cap, but it will burp out the coolant after the car has been shut off. The aux coolant pump seems to be working just fine, and the tank had not been overfilled.
3. There appears to be bubbling into the coolant tank from the small hose that is attached to the lower driver's side portion of the tank.
Are points #1 and #3 normal? Should I be concerned about point #2 as long as there is coolant in the tank?

Can anyone let me know if it is normal for the coolant tank to have pressure inside when the engine is cold? If I remove the coolant tank cap it will hiss as it releases pressure, even if the engine has not been started for many days.
