2001 ML320 mushy brakes
My ML320's brakes are mushy and braking power is not at 100%. My mechanic replaced the master cylinder and did a full brake job (rotors and pads) at the sometime as well as flushing the system multiple times. The problem still exists.
He has now suggested replacing the ABS controller. This job is over 2k with parts and labor and no guarantees.
Any suggestions?

Did you just buy this ML or have you owned this vehicle for some time?
The ML brakes always seem soft to new ML owners coming out of other make vehicles.

I have owned it for over 6 years. It has been a pretty good car and my wife loves it. I had to sink a ton into it.
There is definitely something wrong with the brakes. They are working better since the new master cylinder, but that could be do to the full bake job as well.
When you hammer the brakes, the car does stop, but not as fast as it should. In fact, the ABS does not kick in.
In addition, when I picked it up, the BAS ESP light is now on. He could not figure out how to get it off.
I did see a few posts on this forum about calibration. They did unhook the batter for some odd reason.
