"NEW" Meaning?
How long can the owner have the ML to consider 'NEW'? Mine is 2003 and less then 1 year old less then 9000 miles would I be qualify for the $2000 toward my new E500, If I decide to trade in my ML500 due to the recall?
Or are you saying it work like factory rebate for anyone that decide to purchase a new ML? Sorry, I just don't quite get it. Thanks.

My understanding (realize that I am getting this from the service manager) is that it is essentially a rebate from the factory and only for the purchase of a brand new ML. Curious that they do not tell the customers!???? The dealer does not participate at all.

Sounds fishy, but who knows. I'm not even sure what the original topic was about (it's one of those days!)

Once you drove that barnd new ML off the dealer lot to home, it already lose some value. If you decided to take advantage of the 'rebate' to get a new E500, you're going to lose more value than that by trading the ML in. If you do the math, you are not saving any money.

Unhappy My ML is at the dealer for 4 days now

I drop off my ML for the recall on Friday plus some know issues with the Stereo Volume, on/off on-touch window function plus CD changer errors. And I been driving the loaner ever since last week. Don't know what's the issue there but according to the S/A that there are some parts (CD changer is one of them) need to be over night to them for replacement. I'm happy with the C320 Wagon so far but the mileage is just not enough for weekend traveling. 100 mile a day, where can I go with that. I travel up to 70 miles on work day alone and Weekends, Man. I don't even want to mention it.

Beside resure me that the temperture of my ML is normal and he also turn on the Bose logo on my MCS. Can't wait to pick up my car later today. I'll post some pictures of the Bose Logo if my S/A didn't me.

Your dealer limited you on the mileage you're allowed to add to their car? This is the dealership's car, not a rental agency, correct? That's a bunch of

You're right. Its not a rental. Its a loaner they put it and they only allow 100 miles a day. What a load of

let me tell you about this damn P/S hose clamp recall. they replace the hose clamp. that is it.

I bought it into auto stiegler in encino. They didn't even tighten the new clamp! I drove it straight home. Started the engine that evening. the P/S pump was whining like crazy. I drove 30 feet from the house and turned around. Got out and found a puddle of fluid on my driveway. The reservoir was empty and I can see a trail of fluid running down from the cooler. SOBs never returned my call. I called 24hr roadside and had them tow it back. Had to call again days later to find out if it was ready.

Question New procedures?

On a recent visit to my MB dealership, the service rep. suggested that I wait on getting the "fix" due to problems experienced with the current procedure. He indicated that Mercedes will be coming out with different way to handle the problem. Can anyone confirm either problems with the original fix or the possible release of a new procedure?

Tried to get an appointment for the recall, but the dealer said there is a NEW repair (not sure if it's a new part or procedure) so she told me to wait for their call.

Isn't there a limit on how long MBUSA has to get this recall resolve, otherwise you can file a complaint to the NHTSA.

smug before a fall

I just rang my MB dealer. The vehicle hasn't been there since Nov 99 at which point all the locks were replaced after 3 month warrantee.

Gave the service department (Dealership, Haverhill, MA) the list of things I wanted them to have a look at before the warrantee expired, plus this recall thingy. Service manager said "not a problem" and arranged a loaner for 4th Aug. Guy even said they'd have a look at replacing the door sound insulation that I ripped out because it was leaving goop on the windows.

Believe me this service is way different to what I have been dealt out at Mitsubishi (Woburn, MA)

Does anyone know if Mercedes ever came out with a new repair for this recall? The dealer has yet to call me back to schedule for the repair...

Typical Mercedes dealer attitude. If your car is the S600, they would call you back the first thing in the morning.

Question Recalls

Do you need a recall notice in order to make an appointment to fix a recall defect? If so how can you get it?
Is there a comprehensive list of recalls for the ML430?

no, this is a known problem at MB dealers, they should take care of it for you, whether your out of warranty or not.

just tell them that you heard there was a recall on the issue and they should know.

Angry My ML500 lost power steering

This last winter my ML lost the power steering due to the hose clamp blowing off. I still have not received any notice for a recall. It was fixed for about $45 by a local shop, not MB, as I live some distance from the dealer.

I was still able to drive the car but it was extremely hard to turn the wheel.

I can't say I'm impressed by this fault as the car is in mid model run and these things should not be happening.
