scraped up my bumper

Hello all....I did a stupid thing....I scraped my front bumper on the corner of a concrete post. The scrapes are pretty deep and the pain has come off the area where it rubbed. I asked My dealership to give me an estimate at their body shop. They quaoted me around $1000 to fix it. Are there any other options I have?? Do I need to replace the bumper? Sorry, no pics....haven't had time to take any. The scratches are fairly deep into that plastic...is there a way to just touch up the paint??

This really sucks!!! It is a real eye sore!!!

$1,000 is a little high...

but not terrible. I think the bumper cover is $400 - 450. Plus paint and installation. Filling doesn't work well on bumpers except for minor stuff because of the flexible nature of the cover.

Hahahahaha, sorry I just gotta laugh because that is exactly how my ML looked one day after letting my mom drive it and try to park it! It wasn't too deap and my friend was able to buff it out and use touch up paint. You can barely tell that it happened now.

Take it to them and see, the worst that can happen is that they can tell you no.

$1,000 seems steep -- then again, it's the dealer's bodyshop you're talking to. I put a few minor scrapes on the back of a black bumper of my CLK when I backed into a concrete wall a few months ago. Where it was damaged, it took off the paint down to the gray part of the bumper. The cost to sand and repaint the entire bumper was $428.00 total. It was done by a shop here in D.C. with a reputation for doing excellent work and, in my case, their work was flawless. Get additional estimates.

Well...I shopped around and found this body shop near me. They gave me an estimate of $250. Sounds good to me.
Whats the worst that could happen???
Getting it done there....my first open day was in three weeks...I'll post after pics then. You guys can be the judges.

PAINT IT ... CHEAP ... BUT GOOD !!!

I had a very similar problem -- and judging from your pics, mine was about 3X worse ...

AND ... it cost me only $250 to re-paint the entire bumper. I called up a roving dent-and-paint guy -- name of the franchise is "Colors on Parade" and this is a nationwide system. They'll come to your driveway and do it right there and then.

How good? It's been over a year. No blemishes, fading, etc....
