99 ML320 Transmission Shifting Hard
I have a 99 ML with close to 250,000 miles on it. Recently the transmission has began shifting hard on the initial startup. While shifting from park to either reverse and/or drive the tranny jerks as it shifts into gear. Turning off the engine and restarting it tends to make it go away. Sometimes simply waiting a minute after startup allows the tranny to shift normally. Tranny appears to work normal while driving. This is the second tranny in this vehicle, first was replaced around 150,000 miles. Anyone have any ideas? Mechanic can't seem to determine what is causing the problem...

Did that with no success? Today shifted into low range just to see if it worked, heard a ping when engaged. Low range worked. Drove around neighborhood and now ML went into limp mode.....had it towed to my mechanic.
