Help with a familiar three warning light problem requested

Hello all:

Recently my 01 ML55 has started:
1) Three warning lights started coming on after a few minutes of running BAS, ESP, ABS

2) I have replaced the usual brake light switch and reset the steering angle sensor

3) I pulled the headlight so that I could get at the abs controller and pump

4) I jumped K25 and the pump DID NOT run until I tapped it with a socket extension. It started running but is kind of noisy. I don't know if it has always sounded this way or not. Even though it is running the lights are still on. Now the three lights are on even w/ the initial cold start.

Does this sound like a bad pump to you?

Are these rebuildable or is this a bend over and grab your ankles type of thing? I found a place that claims to be able to rebuild them for less than $400. I also ordered a replacement brush for the motor. It was only $15 with shipping so I may try and install that to see if it makes any difference before I ship out for rebuild or buy a new one.

Does it sound like I am on the right track?

Thanks for any input, it is appreciated. This forum has saved me thousands over the years. It is the only way that I could realistically have this type of vehicle.

Steve

The issue with the three amigos is resolved. I replaced the abs motor brushes and no lights. Total cost with shipping $34 the dealer here wanted $2700 to fix the problem and that did not include the tube of KY jelly. Total time involved, 3 hrs researching forums, 2 hrs doing the repair, 1 hr getting the poorly designed washer reservoir back in.
