Trans fluid change or not?
Can answer most of my own questions if I search long enough. However, not sure if it would be beneficial to change transmission fluid and filter along with differential fluid. Just bought my 01 ML320 and it was very neglected. Currently has 92k and it runs perfectly and shifts fine. Does the MB trans work like poor people cars? Like, replace filter and put old fluid back in and top off with Lucas. Or actually leave it alone like MB says? Or would new fluid be okay? Thanks for any info on this. Can't find much online.

Drop the pan and change the filter and gasket. I strongly urge you to buy these items from the dealer along with the fluid. Aftermarket filters drop off and then there is no lubrication.

Double checked with my local dealer today and they confirmed that new fluid is very good for fluid change. Also told me that it was a very good idea to change it at 100k if I want it to run forever. Thank you!
Fyi... Service manager has been there for 19 years and has NEVER seen a failed differential on these.... Wow!
