ML430 a/c problem

Hey guys

About 2 weeks ago my car's a/c stopped working and starts blowing hot air only if I turn it on. Now I've already done my research on this issue on the forum and i'm going to have the car checked once I get enough funds. I don't have the necessary tools or knowledge to fiddle with the car's components.

Now i'm having a concern because I just had a buddy on the phone and told him about it. He said it will damage the car if I keep driving it without solving my A/C issue. Is this true?
I haven't been using the A/C in the 1st place.

Your refrigerant has leaked out somewhere in the system and without the proper amount the compressor will not turn on.

Your friend does not know what he is talking about. You can drive the vehicle with no problems.
