99 ML320 Shuts Off?
So driving home from work last week, I stop at the grocery store (10 minute drive). Do my shopping, get back in and the car won't won't turn over. The starter cranks, but the engine never turns over.
After letting it sit for a few (3+) minutes, I was able to put the key in and it turned over just like it's always done. I was hoping that was just a weird day.
So last week, when I got home (15 min drive) as I was pulling onto my street (<5mph) the engine shut off by itself - after a couple minutes I was able to restart.
So I was thinking it might be the DAS, so I made sure to get my extra key fob in the car in case it happened again. So today on the way IN to work (<15 mins) as I was pulling into a parking space, same thing happened again - cranks but doesn't turn over; I immediately tried my spare and same result.
I've searched the forum best I know how and I hate joining to just to post a question - does anybody have any hints? I'd hate to take it into the service department for a $50 fix I can do myself.

Can't believe my searches didn't turn up that - but after searching on the CPS - I'm 99% sure you're right and it's worth the $40 gamble...
One question though, how do I know which CPS to get? From what I can tell, there's two types (one has one tab, the other has two).
Can't seem to find an answer and partsgeek just has both listed - trying to avoid taking it off just to look at it.

Look at your vin and see if the last 6 digits are in the range shown. If nothing else cheat and call the parts place or see if you can get a merc dealer to ell you which one is right ie pretend to want to order but want to make sure you need first etc etc. Never dealt with partsgeek but other webparts places show the serial numbers that they fit. Think the change was in mid 99 but check first.

I had the same issue last two week. Youcan llok into my forum formore detail, engine wont start after a cup of coffee. To male it short, it is the ckp sensor. Replace it.
