ML 430 Key will not turn
I have a 2000 ML 430 that likes to lock my key in. Every 14 to 16 months my key gets locked in and I cannot remove it from the ignition. Today, after playing with the key, it did come out but I could not start the engine, the key wouldn't turn. Yes, I played with the steering wheel, I moved the shifter to Drive, and Neutral positions, pressed the brake pedal, stood on my head and used my toes to turn the ignition key. Did not help.
The interesting thing is that it happened twice already in the last four years. The warranty for the tumbler is 12 months but they seem to die shortly after warranty expires. I have been searching about this problem for the last four years. Last year I had new tumbler and set of new keys cut too. The same issue today. There must be a problem with one of these components that they fail so often. If you have similar vehicle it will happen to you too. So, if you have any knowledge of this issue, please share your wisdom.
