Auto transmission problem with 2002 ML270 W163

Auto transmission problem with 2002 ML270 W163
I have a ML270 2002 W163 with a on and off problem with the auto transmission. The problem is the auto transmission will not change gear but after you shut off and restart the problem is gone, but when you off the engine, it comes back again.
Some observations are when you start the engine the low range flashed more than 5 times. When you put into drive the transmission goes in gear hard.
I've gone to my local MB guy and he try to check with diagnostic tool but when it reach the transmission level, the diagnostic comes up with communication failure.
Another matter, the switch cap for the low range came off. I'm ordering 1 new unit. Does this cause the above problem.

I have this problem on a 2007 ML 320. The diagnose says "No signal from sensor Y3 / 8n2"
And another one "ETC (Electronic Transmission Control) Positive speedgradient to big"
The Y3 / 8n2 is a speed sensor in the Transmission Control Module. Selling fairly cheap on Ebay or other places.
Will replace the sensors ( I think there are 3 ) once recover from surgery.
