ML320 Power Steering Rack
I have a 2001 ML320 with a bad power steering rack. I need to know if a rack from a 2000 ML320 will fit? I found some information that makes me think a rack from a vehicle manufactured before September 2000 is not the same as one that was manufactured from September 2000 thru 2005.

Just ordered a rebuilt rack for my 2000 ml from Germanstar
$595 - they never asked me specific vin no. My mechanic is installing it as we speak. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Why can't manufacturers prevent racks from leaking after 10 years?
Not all rubber seals fail after 10 years, but it seems the rack seals fail invariably.
