2000 ML320 MISFIRE HELP!!!
I have a 2000 Mercedes ML320 with a CEL on... after codes were pulled, I was told that there is not a specified cause and it could be a number of things... My truck makes a loud rumbling noise when I'm accelerating or driving at a steady speed. It also makes a clanking noise as well as it vibrates when idle and shakes as I am accelerating. Then, when I am coming to a stop, I can hear water swishing through my truck, like I'm in a fishing boat! Not to mention the driver's side floorboard is always soaking wet. Everyone is telling me to get rid of the truck but I love it and would rather fix the problems it has. I don't know where to start my repairs. I don't want to spend unnecessary money on things that I don't have to replace immediately. Can anyone give me any advice?

Firstly fix your "water" issue. Most probably the drain pipes on the sunroof are blocked with debries.. Open the sunroof and check the left and right front corners of the opening & make sure they are clean. Dont use a metal hunger, you might punch a hole in the drain

I have had the sloshing noise on braking, and in my case it was water in the rocker panels. Try draining yours by removing the black plastic stoppers along the bottom edge. (about 4 per side) You need a small flathead screwdriver to loosen them.
The driver's side floor leak could well be a blocked or disconnected sunroof drain tube, as Art says.
The clanking sound on idle is probably a small piece broken off your catalytic convertor. It rattles around inside the exhaust pipe until the exhaust pressure increases.

Thanks for your responses. I will try to fix the water issue first. It really sucks when your operating in wetness everyday. The codes were P0300 P0301 P0304 P0307 and there were two more I can't remember off hand.

P0307 doesnt sound correct for a ML320. It refers to cylider 7 which a 320 doesnt have. Have you given correct info about your car? If it is a ML320 please double check the codes. If you have a different car change it in your profile. You must have a printout or something stating the actual codes. The correct codes are very important to pinpoint the misfire of the engine.

I was trying to recall the codes off the top of my head... I am at work and don't have them with me... The other codes are correct so there are 3 additional rather than 2 that I cannot remember off hand. Oreilly's pulled the codes for me and told me there wasn't specifics on what actually could be causing the codes... he said it could be a number of things, hence my post for inquiry from anyone who has experience with multiple code misfire????

Rumble could be something loose ...that is in rotatation.
Now try to locate the sound and rest is common sense.
Shaking could be something with wheels, maybe alligning is here the keyword.
Missfires could be caused by all kind of things like: MAF, plugs, wires...worn headgaskets...hard to say without a video...

kbraye, as DrX mentioned above your clanking sound could very much be one of your your cat converters. And if your cat converter is damaged it will vey well explain the multiple misfire codes you are getting. That is the reason we are asking you to post exact codes so we can know which bank are these misfires relating to & tell you exactly which cat is damaged.
