ML start error code
Friend has 2004 ML350 and battery died after he left key on. Charged battery and start error appeared and car won"t crank. Has new battery but didn't install yet? Should we install new battery with key in ignition?

If your key was in the ignition when you charged the battery, you probably fried the key.
Insert the key in the ignition and turn the key to pos. #2 and watch the red led. It should blink once to signify that the key has been recognized.
If it doesn't you will have to buy a new key from the dealer.
