Noisy Climate control
Hi,
Our CC unit has suddenly started making a noise. Its like a click-click that is in time with whatever fan speed is selected on the climate control unit. Almost like something has fallin the way of the fan blades. Has anyone else had this and what is the cure?
The car is a 99 ML430 with 58000 miles.

Most likely something like a piece of paper, twig or leaf has made its way into the fan area and is hitting the fan. Worst case would be a bad bearing on the fan motor. Fan area must be opened up and inspected.

Never have done that but I believe if you remove the filter which I understand is under the dash on the pass side you have access to it. Perhaps someone else on this forum can give you more explicit directions, or, go to your dealer

Whre is the noise coming from?
Not shure what was the first year for this (99 or 00), but if it`s coming from the center vent the lock for the positioning motor is broken.
If its coming from the fan area, you have to remove the passenger under dash panel to access the blower motor.
You will need a t20 torx to remove the blower.

Hi,
Problem solved. An enormous leaf.
Thansk for the input. It was great.
Took the filter out as well for the first time. (We got the car used last July). Never saw such a dirty filter in my life. A new one will be acquired tomorrow.
