Spark plug replacement...how to.
thanks for the rest of the write ups, very very useful. It took me 1.5 hr also.
A late addition to the guy using a 17mm open end.If you use the 17mm special spark boot tool Mercedes uses at the shop you have no worries getting at the metal boots at the proper angle.

All - i understand that this is an old post but have questions on what grease/silocone/di-electric product to use.
1. I want to stay away from WD-40.
2. It looks like I need to put some kind of grease on the boot of the sparkplug wire. What should i use here and in what form? Silicone grease is sold in paste and spray. I'm inclined to buy the silicone grease is paste/tube. Do i just put some of this on my finger and "paste" it on the boot of plug wires?
3. I read about anti-seizing paste. Where does this go? On the 20+ threads of the sparkplug?
4. what needs to be di-electric? The anti-seizing paste, the silicone grease or both?
Please help me by the right greasing stuff so that i don't damage the engine.
thanks in advance,
maneesh
A very small amount of dielectric grease should be applied to the insulator of the spark plug, but not on the terminal. This will make it easier to install the boot and easier to remove when needed

A few thoughts, you need the 3 inch and 4 inch extension.
A little cut up, the gloves are a great idea.
Start passenger side.
Broke one plug, as others have said, the boots should pop off, having a shorter and longer 17mm is helpful, used a wine cork to get some better leverage on no. 5.
As I understand the coil packs are interchangeable and they have a tiny diagram impressed on their sides that shows proper re installation of the two boot wires.
I used the OEM Bosche plugs with the light blue stripes on them, same that I pulled out. Old plugs just looked very dry and for sure loss of gap otherwise just old plugs.
